Letterbox is a plugin for Apple's Mail.app that takes advantage of your widescreen monitor. Letterbox is a mod that turns Mail’s window into a widescreen one - perfect for displays like my MacBook Pro’s It rearranges the interface into three vertical columns – so the message pane is to the right of the message list, rather than below. You'll probably need at least 1280 and perhaps 1440 horizontal pixels for this layout to work well for you. |

Monolingual is a program for removing
unnecessary language resources from Mac OS X If you want to free up a couple of gigabytes from your hard drive, you best bet is by deleting languages you don’t use for your OS. This app does exactly that with ease. It requires at least Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and also works on
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) I don't know about you, but I use my computer
in only one (human) language — English. |

The Unarchiver is a much more capable replacement for "BOMArchiveHelper.app", the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X. The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. It can also handle filenames in foreign character sets, created with non-English versions of other operating systems. I personally find it useful for opening Japanese archives, but it should handle many other languages just as well. It is very simple to use and install - simply copy it into your Applications folder or whereever you prefer, and then set archive filetypes to open using it. This can either be done the usual way, or by double-clicking the icon to show The Unarchiver's preferences. Supported file formats include Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, Rar, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt and many other more or less obscure formats. Support for so many formats is achieved by using the libxad unarchiving library. The Unarchiver requires Mac OS X 10.3.9. There is a Google Code page for The Unarchiver, where you can report and track bugs. |

Scrivener Gold is a freeware release of an early beta version of Scrivener. Writers of all kinds should find Scrivener Gold useful
for maintaining and organising writing and research. Scrivener Gold has
evolved a lot since this beta - the interface is much prettier and more
intuitive, and the feature-set, whilst generally the same, has been
refined and much improved. Scrivener Gold is missing the niceties you
would expect from a finished application (such as state-saving) and
may well have a few minor bugs lurking around, but it is nonetheless
a fully-functional piece of software that writers of all kinds should
find useful for maintaining and organising writing and research. |
